Split paving -

Both sides of the stone are hand split to make it as flat as possible (ideal for paving stones). 

Waterworn paving -

One side of the stone has been naturally smoothed from water flowing over the stone (ideal for stepping stones).

Waitaha Schist is a NZ South Island schist. Natural schist paving is a beautiful alternative to concrete paving. It looks great as a crazy paving path or patio, or stepping stones. Other common uses include art projects, reptile enclosure décor, capping, fire hearths, and pond surrounds.
